PTA Newsletter - Oct-09

Issue 7                                                                                     October 2009

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

The new play area was officially opened with great fanfare on Sunday 13th September by last year’s Class 6. The sun shone and the Bucks Fizz flowed, then the ribbon was cut, and the children ran enthusiastically onto to new equipment. The Chairman thanked all those people who had helped in so many ways during the three years of fund raising it took to reach the £11,000 spent. He also thanked everyone who helped during the Summer holidays in various ways through the construction process.

These photos just give a flavour of the day.

New to the School?

If you are new to the school then welcome to the “The PTA Say!” This is the official newsletter of the Ashbrooke House PTA  which we publish once or twice a term as the need arises .We welcome any articles  or views you may wish to put in the newsletter. There is a PTA box just inside the school door where  you can post your ideas. The PTA meets approximately twice a term at school at 7.30pm and the date is advertised on the PTA notice board, everyone is welcome to attend meetings. This is where the committee discuss how to raise money and what to spend it on, so come and join us and you can even get a free drink!

Next Fundraiser

The next fundraising event will take place during the half  term and will be a sponsored “Fill a Film Canister” competition. There will be a prize for lower school and a prize for upper school and more details will follow later.

Your View

The committee is beginning to consider what the next project might be and how best to raise funds through the year. We are mindful in recessionary times that there is a pressure on everyone’s budget so a series of smaller targets may be the way forward. With that in mind we are seeking “Your Views” on what  projects to consider, if you have any thoughts please fill in the slip below and post it in the PTA box  in the school entrance. As a registered charity there are some things we are not allowed to spend money  on and must not interfere with the obligations of the school. However if there are “extras” you think  would benefit the pupils then let us know.

AGM Committee Changes

At a successful AGM recently there were some changes to the committee officers and class reps ,a full list  will be posted on the notice board in due course. Ideally we would like two reps for each class so if you would like to join the committee please do talk to any PTA member.

Carols by Candlelight

It will be on Tuesday 8th December 2009 in the school garden, more details closer to the time.
